I turned my computer on this morning and the first news that greeted me was that actor Heath Ledger was found dead in his Manhattan apartment. He was 28. I'm not sure why -- I'm not a huge fan or anything -- but the news kind of hit me hard. I spent a few minutes waiting for it to sink in. I guess it's because in the five or so of his films that I've seen, he showed himself to be a notch above the average Hollywood star. He seemed anti-Hollywood even, in his diverse choice of roles. Or maybe it's just never easy whenever another promising light is snuffed out. The last time I felt like this was for River Phoenix. I don't know. It's just sad.
